Enjoy excellent pay and benefits, a clean, safe workplace, rewarding work, and opportunities to advance.

Here in the Catawba Valley, we have been making fine furniture for more than 100 years. It is part of the fabric of our community. Today, our region’s manufacturers are world leaders in this growing global industry. Looking out into the future, we expect demand for furniture to increase with the growing populations and rising incomes of developed and developing countries. And we expect to continue leading the world.

“The products we make are shipped all around the world, to the world’s finest homes.”
- Marival Lemus

In today’s world-class furniture making facility, skilled technicians use state-of-the-art equipment to cut, sew, frame, fit, and upholster beautiful, quality, highly desirable products. Working on a variety of pieces, some of which are completely customized, you will see new opportunities to use your problem-solving skills every day.

As you gain experience and grow your abilities, you can also enjoy opportunities to learn new skills, take on more challenging positions, and increase your earnings. Many area companies prefer to promote from within and will offer the right people opportunities to take on supervisory and managerial positions.

“If I don’t like it, I don’t send it out.”
- Marival Lemus

If you enjoy working with your hands, have good hand/eye coordination, pay strong attention to detail, and are willing to learn, you may be just the right person for the job. Trained technicians start at $15/hour or more and can earn up to $30/hour, depending on the type of job and their experience level. Benefits packages vary by company but typically include health insurance, paid vacation and holidays, 401K retirement plans, performance bonuses, and more.

On-the-Job Training

jason

“The instructor explains everything. He wants you to succeed.”

- Sebastian Hernandez, Upholsterer in Training, Vanguard Furniture

Many local manufacturers offer on-the-job training programs that allow you to get paid while you learn. Only a limited number of positions are available at any given time, and the number of openings is entirely dependent on individual company needs. Trainees start as entry-level employees and increase their pay as they successfully move through the program.

To find out about current on-the-job-training opportunities, click “Get Recruited Now,” enter your contact information, and check the box next to “Tell me about openings for paid training positions.”
